The Universidade Federal da Bahia ( UFBA ) ( German: Federal University of Bahia) is a Brazilian public university in Salvador da Bahia. It was founded on April 8, 1946. The University, the fifth largest in the country and the largest in the state of Bahia, is one of the most prestigious throughout Brazil as well as the best University of Bahia. Offers 33 master's and doctoral programs eleven.

The University goes back to a Portuguese Medical School, which was founded in 1808. Later, other faculties were added.
