Fédération Française de Cyclisme

The FFC (Fédération Française de Cyclisme ) is the French Cycling Federation.

The FFC is a member of the UCI and the UEC. Since February 2009, David Lappartient is their President.

History

As a precursor to the FFC was founded on February 6, 1881 in Paris, Le Café Marengo Union Vélocipédique Française ( UVF). Of these, representatives from ten cycling clubs also operate a national championship was decided on the same day ( a race for ten kilometers ). Professional drivers were already approved in this first race. The first president was the Paris Paul Devilliers. On 20 December 1940, the UVF has been fundamentally reformed and renamed FFC.

Since 2014, the FFC is located around 35 km from Paris based in the National Velodrome in Saint -Quentin -en- Yvelines.

Case Sulpice

In March 2008, the FFC was convicted by a French court to pay 1.35 million euros for pain and suffering to the racing cyclist Patrice Sulpice. Sulpice was overthrown in a practice during the UCI Track World Championships in 1995 in Bogotá and sitting in a wheelchair ever since. This court decision brought the FFC to the brink of bankruptcy.
