Fédération française de la montagne et de l'escalade

The Fédération Française de la Montagne et de l' Escalade ( FFME; German: French Mountain and Climbing Federation ), headquartered in Paris, is an association for the promotion of non-motorized alpine sports, especially mountain climbing areas, canyoning, climbing, expeditions, hiking and - tours, snow trekking and tours, as well as skiing.

The origin of the federation 1942 by Sports Top Commissariat ( Commissariat aux Sports skin ) in addition to the existing Club Alpin Français ( CAF) under the name Fédération Française de la Montagne (FFM ) was founded. The FFME was created in 1987 by merger of the FFM with the founded in 1985 Climbing Federation Fédération Française d' Escalade (FFE ). Beginning of the millennium failed an initiative to merge the FFME with the CAF. 2002 supported the FFME the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions ( ICSM ) in the implementation of the First World Cup in ski mountaineering in France.

The FFME is a member of the National Olympic Committee of France, the CNOSF and a member of the Union Internationale des Associations d' Alpinisme ( UIAA ).
