Feeny

Feeny ( Irish: Na Fíneadha; German: "Forest Land" ) is a village in the north of Ireland in County Derry in Northern Ireland.

The place

Feeny is located in the northern part of the Northern Irish county between the small towns of Claudy and Dungiven, 7 kilometers north- west of Dungiven. With 20 kilometers away Limavady and 23 kilometers away Derry City Feeny has good road, but only limited public transport connections. Administratively, it is part of the Limavady District and parliament for East Derry.

The population of the town was established in the 2001 Census 542 people, of whom 95.8 % were Catholic and 3.7 % Protestant; the unemployment rate ( 16-74 years) was relatively high at 7.8%. Only 6.6 % of the population were over 60 years old.
