Feilitzsch

Feilitzsch is a community in the Upper Franconian district court and office of the Management Community Feilitzsch. History

Oldest evidence of human settlement in the municipal area is a well-preserved stone ax from the Neolithic period, which was found in the municipal part Münchenreuth and is on display at the Museum Bayerisches Vogtland in court.

Feilitzsch is called by the inhabitants of Feilitzsch and around the dialect as Feilsch ( Veilsch ). It is believed that this refers to the noble family of Veilsdorf, which was invested by the overseers of Weida in the 12th century with land between farm and Thuringia to build a water castle there. In the 12th century, probably existed in Feilitzsch in the area of ​​today's Brauhausgasse and Zedtwitz on the castle stables (now the island) water castles.
