Feldberg (Rhön)

The Feldberg is a 815.2 m above sea level. NN high mountain in the Rhön in Hesse.

It is located about three kilometers northeast of Gersfeld in the district of Fulda, near the border with Bavaria and is part of the nature reserve Rhön and the Rhön biosphere reserve. The nearest villages are Oberhausen in the northwest and Sandberg on the southern slopes of the mountain. The Feldberg is a advanced to the southwest slopes of the mountain ridge that runs from the water dome to Heidelstein. The young Fulda flows past beneath its western slope. The B 284 leads in their section of Gersfeld to Wüstensachsen in an arc west and north of Feldberg over. Tourist guides the Extratour Guckaisee, a trail of Rhön clubs, immediately south of the summit on the Feldberg. The area is used for forestry and partly as grassland.
