Felipe Molas López

Felipe Molas López ( * July 10, 1901 in Yuty, † March 2, 1954 in Asunción ) was a Paraguayan politician who was President of Paraguay 1949 of 27 February 1949 to 11 September. He was a member of the Colorado Party.

From 21 February 1936 to October 1936 he was mayor of Asunción. After that, he was Secretary of Education under President Juan Manuel Frutos, Juan González, Raimundo Natalicio Rolón.

He feared a military coup against President Rolón and Epifanio Méndez Fleitas organized together with and the Colonel Alfredo Stroessner in a coup to forestall the military. Under his presidency, all ministerial posts were occupied by civilians. He also then took over the presidency of the Colorado Party. In September, however, he was asked by the party leadership to resign, and the leader of the Democratico - wing, Federico Chavez, was used as his successor.
