Felletin

FELLETIN ( Occitan Falatin ) is a commune with 1803 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Limousin region. It is located in the department of Creuse, in the arrondissement of Aubusson. FELLETIN is the capital of Canton FELLETIN.

Geography

FELLETIN is located about 7.5 kilometers south of Aubusson, at the foot of the Plateau de Millevaches. To the west of the Creuse limits the community. The train station of FELLETIN is on the railway line Busseau -sur- Creuse Ussel, which ends in FELLETIN.

History

1121-1125 the church of Sainte - Valérie is built. 1356 fall, the English one during the Hundred Years War in the area and in the place. Beginning of the 15th century, the Château de Beaumont is destroyed. In addition to the ruins of the chapel is still preserved. 1576-1580 ruled the Huguenots over the place. 1795, the church of Saint -Blaise is destroyed.

Economy

The former glory of textile factories, the Gobelins factories and Bildwirkereien is largely descended. The studios Piton still exists.
