Femke Halsema

Femke Halsema ( born April 25 1966 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch politician. From 2002 to 2010 she was Group President of Groen Links in the Second Chamber.

Life

Halsema studied criminology and sociology of law in Utrecht. From 1993 to 1997 she worked at the Wiardi Beckman Foundation, the scientific institute of the PvdA.

In 1998 she was elected for Groen Links to the Dutch Parliament. During the first term of the Cabinet Balkenende she practiced as a legal affairs in her group strongly criticized the new legislation on foreigners. Since November 2002, she served as Group Chairman. The end of 2003 they put this post down temporarily when she became a mother of twins.

Halsema is considered left-liberal (even if they prefer describes himself as a " liberal ").
