Fengdu County
The circle Fengdu (丰都 县Fengdu Xiàn ) with around 780,000 inhabitants, is a district of Chongqing Municipality in southwest China.
The Paleolithic Gaojiazhen - site ( Gaojiazhen Yizhi高家 镇 遗址) since 2001 has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 5-102 ).
This includes or included the city of Fengdu on the Yangtze River 171 km located east of Chongqing. However, it was completely flooded in the wake of the impoundment to 2007, its 100,000 residents were forcibly resettled in newly built settlements higher up the river.
The name City of Ghosts (丰都 鬼城, Fengdu guǐ cheng ) but she received because of there in the Han dynasty first created Taoist and Buddhist temples. There are 75 Buddha and Taoist temples in the city, most on the hill named Ming Shan ( Mountain Ming ).
