The Fenton Township is one of 22 townships in Whiteside County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the Fenton Township had 536 inhabitants.

Geography

The Fenton Township is located in northwestern Illinois, on the north bank of the Rock River. The Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa, is located 20 km to the east. The border with Wisconsin is located about 100 km north.

The Fenton Township is located at 41 ° 42'35 " north latitude and 90 ° 02'13 " west longitude and extends over 91.4 km ², spread to 90.4 km ² land and 1.0 km ² water surface.

The Fenton Township is located in the southwestern center of Whiteside County and is bordered to the north by the Union Grove Township, in the northeast of the Mount Pleasant Township, to the east by the Lyndon Township, to the southeast by the Prophetstown Township, on the south by the Portland and the Erie Township, on the west by the Newton Township, and on the northwest by the Garden Plain Township.

Traffic

Through the Fenton Township runs in east-west direction Interstate 88, which runs from the Quad Cities to Chicago. All other roads are County Roads or more subordinate and partly unpaved roadways.

In the Fenton Township describes a railway line of the BNSF Railway, which runs from the Quad Cities this far along the Rock River, a bow in northern direction.

The nearest major airport is around 60 km south-west of the township situated Quad City International Airport.
