Ferdinand van Apshoven the Younger

Ferdinand Apshoven II, Ferdinand Abshoven, Abtshoven Ferdinand and Ferdinand van Apshoven, ( baptized March 1, 1630 in Antwerp, buried April 3, 1694 in Antwerp) was a Flemish painter.

Apshoven Ferdinand II was a son of Ferdinand I and the younger brother Apshoven by Thomas van Apshoven. He was trained by his father and David Teniers the Younger, 1657/58, he was admitted by the painters' guild in Antwerp as a champion son. As a result, he seems to have little painted. Its main activity was trading in works of art. On January 20, 1657 he married Josina van Overstraeten, with whom he had four children. His youngest son, Willem van Apshoven also suggested an artistic career. From 1664 he was a captain of the militia of Antwerp. Between 1678/79 it has been proposed as dean of the painters' guild, the Office shall reject though. On April 3, 1694 he was buried in St. Walburga, Antwerp.

Stylistically stand near his few images which David Teniers the Younger and those of his brother. He painted mainly rural scenes, interiors, genre scenes and still lifes.
