Ferdinando II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany

Ferdinand II (* July 14, 1610, † May 23, 1670 ) was a Grand Duke of Tuscany from the home of the Medici.

Life

Ferdinand II was the son of Cosimo II and grandson of Ferdinand I.. He followed in 1621 was eleven years old his father in the government after, where he was placed under the guardianship of his mother, the Archduchess Maria Magdalena of Austria, and his grandmother, Christina of Lorraine, which in turn four councils were adjoined.

He himself took the reins of government in 1628, but fell into the dependency of Spain, who had broken his grandfather, and of the priesthood.
