Fernand Bouisson

Fernand Bouisson ( born June 16, 1874 in Constantine, Algeria, † December 28, 1959 in Antibes, Alpes- Maritimes) was a French politician.

Life

Bouisson was a politician of the Third Republic and held since 1906 as Mayor of Aubagne. He sat from 1909 to 1940 as the representative of the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the French Chamber of Deputies ( Chambre des députés ), first for the independent Socialists (PSI ), then for the SFIO and last for the Republican-Socialist PRS. In the second cabinet of Georges Clemenceau, he held 1918/19, the Office of the Commissioner for the Navy and the Marine Transportation.

Bouisson was elected President of the Chamber of Deputies ( National Assembly ) on January 11, 1927, a post which he wielded with a brief interruption from 1 to 4 June 1935, when he was prime minister ( Président du Conseil ). During his short reign, which ended due to a no-confidence vote, including the politician Pierre Laval, Édouard Herriot, Joseph Caillaux, Georges Mandel and Philippe Pétain were members of his cabinet. At the same time he took over until June 7, 1935, the Office of the Minister of the Interior. After the electoral victory of the Popular Front, he had to resign on May 31, 1936 from his position as President of the Chamber of Deputies. He was also the 1928-1934 President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union ( IPU).
