Fernand Gobet

Fernand Gobet ( born February 12, 1962 in Romont, Switzerland ) is a Swiss chess master and a cognitive scientist. He carries since 1985 the title of International Master. In 1981 he was Swiss junior champion and 1996, won the team championship with Swiss Geneva. He played in three Chess Olympiads (1982, 1984 and 1988). 1985 in Lucerne, he fought for his country at the first team World Cup, when Viktor Korchnoi on first board won a gold medal.

He is a professor of psychology at Brunel University in London, where he conducts research in the field of expert cognition. Among other topics, he has studied the chess psychology and language acquisition in children. He is an expert in the modeling of cognitive processes and has the Chrest developed cognitive architecture.
