Fernand Grosjean

Fernand Grosjean ( born May 5, 1924 in Geneva or Montana VS ) is a former Swiss alpine skier. He is the paternal grandfather of the French Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean.

A trained mechanic Grosjean won four titles at the Swiss Championships in Alpine skiing. In 1947 he was successful in the combination, 1952, 1954 ( coinciding with Georges Schneider) and 1955 he won the slalom championships.

In 1948, Grosjean at the Olympic Winter Games in St. Moritz. In the downhill race in the Swiss came to 3:03,1 minutes in eighth place, the combination of competition he finished with a score of 16.61 on the 16th Place. In the Alpine World Skiing Championships 1950 in Aspen Grosjean became vice world champion in giant slalom behind the Italian Zeno Colò ( time: 1:55,2 minutes). Two years later, at the Games in 1952 in Oslo, Grosjean took part in the giant slalom race, which he finished after 2:33,8 minutes and ranked 11th. In the same year Grosjean won with a running time of 1:56 minutes, the slalom race of the Arlberg - Kandahar race.
