Ferrante Aporti

Ferrante Aporti ( born November 20, 1791 in San Martino dall'Argine, † November 14, 1858 in Turin ) was an Italian educator and theologian.

Life

Ferrante Aporti was born in the province of Mantua, Italy. At first he devoted himself to theology and received his ordination. Then, from 1816, he stayed for three years in Vienna. In 1818 he became professor of church history in Cremona.

In Cremona Aporti was used from 1822 as director of elementary schools. Since 1827 he also built their own schools, especially for poor children. This was initially received little attention, but was subsequently taken praiseworthy. Its principle of the school was taken over in other cities. The built elsewhere for its model schools he checked.

At the University of Turin Aporti lectured in which he conveyed his school method. The lectures were attended by teachers in particular. For his services he was inducted into the French Legion of Honour in 1846. 1848 took him to Victor Emmanuel II in the Senato della Repubblica. In 1855 he was appointed Rector of the University of Turin, which he remained until shortly before his death in 1858.

Aporti was 66 years old. He wrote textbooks for primary schools, but cremonese also an award-winning historical church plant called Storia ecclesiastica.
