Fertőd

Fertőd [ fɛrtø ː d] is a village in western Hungary, a few kilometers south-east of Lake Neusiedl on the border with Austria. The name is associated with the name of the Hungarian steppe lake together ( Fertő- tó ), to the south and east edge extends a fertile flatland. Fertőd has about 3,400 inhabitants and was built in 1950 from the merger of the municipalities Esterháza ( German: Ester house) and Süttör ( German: shaking of ).

Attractions

The place is known by three things:

  • The lying on the outskirts Esterházy Palace. This famous rococo palace of the former Esterházy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts as many visitors Hungarian Versailles,
