The Amethyst Fescue ( Festuca amethystina ) is a species of the genus fescue ( Festuca ).

Features

The Amethyst Fescue is a perennial, herbaceous plant Horst, achieved the stature heights of 50 to 120 centimeters. The leaf blades are almost hair -like. The leaf sheaths are closed in the lower half or the lower two thirds of the plant. They have a deep longitudinal furrow. The lowest leaf sheaths are often reddish purple. The panicle is narrow and 7 to 22 inches long. The spikelets are 6-10 mm long.

The flowering season lasts from May to June.

Use

The Amethyst Fescue is rarely used as an ornamental plant for heather gardens.
