Filip Vujanović

Filip Vujanović [ filip vujanɔvitɕ ] (Cyrillic Филип Вујановић; born September 1, 1954 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia ) is since 22 May 2003 the President of the Republic of Montenegro.

Filip Vujanović finished in 1978 his law studies at the Belgrade Law Faculty. From March 1978 to November 1980 he worked as a court clerk at the District Court Titograd. From January 1982 to March 1993 he worked as a lawyer. From 1993 on, the trained lawyer was initially for two years and then Justice Minister of the Interior of Montenegro nearly three years. As the successor Milo Djukanovic, he held the post of prime minister from 1998 to 2002. After an agreed exchange of the two highest offices in the state Vujanović was on 25 November 2002, at first only on an interim basis, President. There followed two unsuccessful choice passages on 22 December 2002 and on 9 February 2003, which failed due to the low turnout of less than 50 % after large parts of the opposition had called for a boycott of the elections. After a change of the electoral law abolishing the minimum turnout Vujanović was chosen on 11 May 2003, 64.2 % of the votes with a turnout of 48.2 % as the new President. The swearing-in ceremony took place on May 22. Like his mentor Djukanovic he aspired to the detachment of his country from the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro on 3 June 2006.

6 April 2008 Vujanović occurred in the presidential election on again as the main challenger Andrija Mandic and Nebojsa were Medojević. Vujanović reached almost absolute majority in the first ballot - Mandic and Medojević reached less than 20 %. His second swearing-in ceremony took place on 21 May 2008. Third time he was re-elected on April 7, 2013, and sworn in on May 21, 2013.
