Filipe Neri Ferrão

Filipe Neri António Sebastião do Rosário Ferrão ( born January 20, 1953 in Aldona, India) is the Patriarch of the East Indies and Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Goa e DaMao.

Life

On October 28, 1979 he was ordained priest and on 20 December 1994, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Goa e DaMao and Titular Bishop of Vanariona. On 12 December 2003, Pope John Paul II appointed with the Bull Inter gravissimas patriarch and archbishop of that diocese. The appointment was announced only after the resignation of his predecessor, Raul Nicolau Gonsalves on 16 January 2004. The installation took place on March 21.
