The Film Academy Baden- Württemberg is a film school in Ludwigsburg founded, state 1991. The Film Academy is one of the most renowned German film schools, which has an excellent reputation internationally. Since 2005, Thomas Schadt is the managing director. The Film Academy Baden- Württemberg is organized in the legal form of a non-profit company and is funded by the state of Baden -Württemberg.

In 2010, the renowned trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter, the film academy as the only German institution on the list of the best film schools around the world. Courses

Atelier Ludwigsburg- Paris

The Atelier Ludwigsburg- Paris is a one year post-graduate training in the field of film production and film distribution. It is jointly organized by the Film Academy Baden- Württemberg, Ludwigsburg, and the French film school La fémis, Paris, and in cooperation with the National Film and Television School, London. Study leaders are Gerhard Meixner and Roman Paul on German and Marc Nicolas and Christine Ghazarian on the French side.

Filmacting

The film acting workshop at the Film Academy place in cooperation rather than with the Academy of Performing Arts Baden- Württemberg, located on the campus shared with the Film Academy. The workshop is aimed at young talents who want to expand their classically completed acting training to the professional film acting.

Animation Institute

To Film Academy is one of the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction, an internationally renowned animation institute.

It is responsible for training in the majors in animation and interactive media within the Course Film & Media. The course lasts four and a half years and includes a basic training in the areas of screenplay, cinematography, directing, film and editing, before the main study areas digital effects, compositing, animation, puppet animation, 3D animation and digital content can be learned.

In addition, the Institute is responsible for the digital post-production ( online editing, grading, mastering) all student projects at the Film Academy, is active in research and development and organized the FMX Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive Media.

Prizes and awards

A number of successful films were made in the context of study at the Film Academy, which received major awards at national and international festivals. Many of them were, for example, already been awarded at the annual Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart. Application

Applicants in High School and at least one year of practical experience in film or media provided (for the production study two years). Applicants for postgraduate programs must also demonstrate a bachelor's degree in certain subjects. The entrance exam will be held in April / May and places particularly high demands.
