Final examination

A college exam is an examination in the context of studies of responsibility of a university (eg a module exam). The most important university exam is the final exam, after which an academic degree is awarded.

Generally

The content and structure of the examination are within the legislative competence of the university college, the examination regulations must be approved by the appropriate state authority. The individual examination regulations are also often designed in accordance with a framework examination regulations. However, course content and testing procedures can differ considerably.

In Germany the academic degrees Diploma, Magister, Licentiate, Bachelor and Master and Doctor are obtained by university examinations. In the course of the Bologna Process, which provides for the unification of university degrees in Europe, the diploma and master's degree programs are largely abolished and converted to bachelor and master degrees.

Demarcation from other audits

State examination

In addition to the group of high school exams, there are state examinations, in which the structure of study and examinations is regulated country-specific or nationwide uniform. The relevant courses, this is justified by the increased interest of the Community to the uniformity of examination requirements and therefore the quality of some training.

Church audit

A third group of tests beyond the ecclesiastical trial in which the respective local church training and testing its budding pastor and church musician regulates itself exists. In general, however, the theological faculties also offer so-called faculty exams and master checks that are carried out as a high school exams, but not necessarily entitle the rectory.

Berufsakademien

Vocational colleges are not universities and degree awarding diploma (BA ) and Bachelor rather than academic degrees, but as a state final designations.
