Finnish Tatars
The Tatars of Finland are a government-approved national minority Muslims in Finland, which comprises about 800 people.
Their language, which is maintained to this day in the fifth and sixth generation, is protected by the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages as a non- territorial language.
History
The immigration of the Tatars in Finland took place no later than 1870 and lasted until about 1920. Area of origin were 20 villages in the region Sergatsch, southeast of Nizhny Novgorod. Some of them settled in the then Finnish city of Vyborg (Finnish Viipuri ) in Karelia. After the annexation of the region by the Soviet Union in 1944, most of them fled to Finland. But also in Helsinki, Turku and Tampere lived even before the October Revolution Tatar fur and textile merchant who had been originally farmers in their ancestral homeland and their families brought into the country after the independence of Finland, for the most part.
Presence

Organizations
The Tatars of Finland are Finnish formed in 1925, the Islamic community ( Finlandiya Cemaati Islam ), the first officially recognized Islamic community in Western Europe, which was founded in 1935 Union of Finnish Turks ( Finlandiya Türkleri Birligi ) as well as the sports club founded in 1945 Yolduz organized.
