Finspång
Finspång [ finspɔŋ ] is a town in the Swedish province of Östergötland County and the historic province of Östergötland.
The main town of the municipality Finspång gained in importance in 1580, when King John III. the Dutch Wellam de Wijk commissioned to produce guns and associated balls for the Swedish military in place. This production in the Finspångs Styckebruk was continued over the next 300 years under the leadership of the Belgian noble family de Geer. Today, the steel industry is the main industry in Finspång.
Louis de Geer (1622-1695) made in 1668 to build the city palace on an elongated island in the river Finspångå. The castle features an orangery and a garden shed.
Traffic
Back in 1854 Finspång was connected due to its industry on a boat service across the lake Glan and a horse-drawn railway, the Fiskeby Järnväg, with the harbor in Norrköping. Boat line and railway line were the Fiskeby jernvägs -och ångbåts AB. As of 1873, the steamship Glan was used.
