Fiona O'Malley

Fiona O'Malley ( born January 19, 1968) is an Irish politician and senator in Seanad Éireann since 2007.

O'Malley was elected to the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in 1999 and was there until September 2003 Member since it was elected in 2002 for the Progressive Democrats in the 29th Dáil Éireann and had to give up her seat on the County Council because of that. In the elections to the 30th Dáil Éireann she failed to defend her seat.

On 3 August 2007 O'Malley was nominated by the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern to Seanad Éireann senator in 23 and was therefore next Ciarán Cannon one of the two senators of the Progressive Democrats. After the party on November 8, 2008 approved its self-dissolution, Cannon joined March 2009 Fine Gael. O'Malley himself sitting since 2009 as independents in the Senate.

Fiona O'Malley is the daughter of Desmond O'Malley, the party founder and former party leader of the Progressive Democrats.
