Fireflies (German firefly ) is a pop song from the musical project Owl City, which was released as the first single from their second album Ocean Eyes. The song debuted at number 97 on the Billboard Hot 100, later became a hit and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, the album reached # 8 on the Billboard 200

Music Video

In the music video for Fireflies Adam Young playing on his synthesizer in a container filled with toys room, where most of the ( Astronaut, Robot, etc.) come to life. It was directed by Steve Hoover. The video had an exclusive premiere on the MySpace page of Owl City, but it was posted on YouTube just hours before.

Commercial success

The song reached first place 38 on the Billboard rock charts, number 27 in the alternative charts and number one on the Hot Digital Song charts. The song debuted at number 97 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it became the most downloaded dance-pop single of all time, reaching reason number 1 in the iTunes charts and on November 7, number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and again on 21 November. Thus, the song has spent a total of two weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was downloaded a total of 1,574,678 times. The song reached # 2 on the Canadian charts and # 1 in the Canadian Digital Song charts.
