Firishta

Ferischta (Persian فرشته or Frischta, actually Muhammad Qasim Hindu Shah, محمد قاسم ہندو شاه; * 1560 in Astarabad on the shores of the Caspian Sea, † 1620, 1623 or 1626 ) was a Persian historian. Even as a child his father was called from his home country to Ahmednagar in Hindustan, to teach the young prince Miran Husain Nizam Shah Persian, learned together with the Ferischta.

Tarikh -i Ferischta

His most famous work is his Tarikh -i Firishta ( Tareekh -e- Farischta ), which he began writing in 1589. The book consists of three volumes and describes the complete history of ancient India, from its very beginning, up to the year 1607. The work has also been translated into Urdu. The book was recently published by the Iranian scholar Mohammadreza Nasiri and commented.

It was translated into English by John Briggs ( 1785-1875 ).
