Firminópolis

Firminopolis is a Brazilian, municipality in the state of Goiás in the mesoregion Central Goiás and in the micro-region Anicuns. It is located west-southwest of the Brazilian capital Brasília and Goiânia west of the capital.

The municipality includes the town of Novo firminopolis Planalto.

  • To the south by Palminópolis and São João da Paraúna
  • On the west by Aurilândia
  • To the northwest by São Luís de Montes Belus

History

Around 1933 gathered on Sunday morning the inhabitants of each region at the Fazenda Santo Domingo for Catholic worship. Through a donation of territorial Manoel Firmino dos Santos entststand a settlement, beginning with the construction of the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia, dedicated to the local patron saint. With the arrival of families Araujo Borges and Machado, who were attracted because of the fertility of the soil, the village experienced a remarkable development. In honor of the donor, Manoel Firmino dos Santos, the settlement firminopolis was baptized. As of April 26, 1948 firminopolis was declared a district of the municipality Paraúna. Per State Law No. 174 firminopolis was raised by October 7, 1948 by separation from Paraúna an independent municipality.
