First Army (Turkey)

The first Turkish Army ( Turkish Birinci Ordu ) is one of the four armies of the land forces ( Kara Kuvvetleri ) of the Turkish Armed Forces.

The 1st Army has its headquarters in the Selimiye Barracks ( Selimiye Kışlası ) in Istanbul's Üsküdar district on the Asian side of the city, where the army is stationed in Eastern Thrace. The army is responsible for securing the borders with Greece and Bulgaria as well as the strategically important straits Bosphorus and Dardanelles.
