First Peoples National Party of Canada

The First Peoples National Party of Canada ( FPNPC ) is one of the 15 recognized political parties in Canada. It represents mainly the indigenous people. Your candidates, the party, especially in those regions that are characterized by a high proportion of the electorate of the First Nations.

It held its first organizational meeting in October 2004 in Sault Ste. Marie from Ontario. Almost simultaneously, the Aboriginal Peoples Party of Canada organized in the summer of the following year. Both parties worked successfully on their recognition and operate the association. The new name of the party is to be determined by the members.

Interim Chairperson is Barbara Wardlaw from the founding place. Overall, the party nominated in the election of 2006, five candidate in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. Among them was Brendan Cross, a 30-year member of the Saulteaux First Nation in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, who grew up in a non- indigenous family. He was co-founder of the First Nations Party of Saskatchewan.

In the 2006 election the party received 1201 votes. The five current candidates are John Malcolm (including interim chief of the Wood Buffalo First Nation, British Columbia), Don Roberts ( Cariboo / Prince George, British Columbia), William Morin ( Michipicoten First Nation in Ontario ), Guy Dumas ( Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) and Doug Dokis ( Anishinabe, Calgary ).

In most respects, the party supports the Assembly of First Nations and is oriented with respect to the demands for autonomy explicitly on the status of Trentino- Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta in Italy, New Caledonia, Northern Ireland and Greenland.
