FirstClass

FirstClass is a groupware and communication software, consisting of a server and clients, which are available on both sides for several operating systems. First Class is working with its own network protocol. In Advanced FirstClass server you can (eg smart phones ) dial also via a web browser and mobile devices.

History

First Class was originally developed within the Canadian company SoftArc of three former employees of Bell Northern Research. The first version was completed in 1989. First Class was used in the early 1990s by virtually all Bulletin Board Systems on Mac OS. With the advent of the Internet, this era ended. 1997 SoftArc was taken over by a company in Vancouver and traded from now on under the name Centrinity. In September 2002 Centrinity Open Text was purchased by the Canadian company. Since then, the software will be further developed by the First Division under the umbrella of Open Text.
