Fischbachtal is a municipality in the district of Darmstadt- Dieburg in Hesse, Germany.

Geography

Geographical Location

Fischbachtal is at the front (north) Odenwald. Due to the congregation of the eponymous Fischbach, which flows through the city Gersprenz at floor in the main flow. The distance to the Main is approximately equal to the Rhine near Gernsheim. The River Rhine can be reached via the L direction Lauter 3102 and the federal highway 47 in the valley of the Lauter. The highest elevation is the Rimdidim with 498.50 meters.

History

Ahead of municipal reform in Hesse was lifted on 11 December 1971, the signing of the border treaty change in the chapel of the castle of Lichtenberg, the new community Fischbachtal from the baptism. She has been formed at 31 December 1971 through the voluntary merger of six formerly independent communities Steinau, Billings, Meßbach, Nonrod, Lichtenberg and low living. These districts had long been geographically, economically and culturally closely related. The new name, none of the traditional districts was preferred. For the territory of each of the former municipalities a local district with town council and mayor was established.

Attractions

The counts of Katzenelenbogen built around the year 1200 a castle; from 1228 is reported by Count Diether IV of Katzenelenbogen, the Comes de Lichtenberg called.
