Fisherman's Friends

The Fisherman's Friends are shanty choir from the southern England village of Port Isaac.

History

Mid-1990 were found in the located on the coast of Cornwall Port Isaac some locals together to the harbor of the fishing village together to sing sea shanties. It became a tradition and which take place in the summer months on Fridays vocal performances were a local attraction. The choir also took up two CDs, which they sold.

In the 2000s the village was also well known as a location of the series Doc Martin and a producer of the Universal labels became aware on vacation on the chorus. Beginning of 2010, the ten-member group whose members were already all over 50 years old, offered a record deal and recorded an album with a capella shanties.

The album of the Fisherman's Friends proved to be very successful and was in April 2010 straight into the top 10 of the UK album charts aboard. In addition to nationwide concerts, including at the Royal Albert Hall, will follow as in Glastonbury in the summer festival appearances.
