Five-Percent Nation

The Nation of Gods and Earths, also known as the Five Percent Nation, is an African American socio- religious movement. This was founded in 1964 by Clarence 13X in Harlem. The Five Percent Nation drew the anger of religious and political leaders to be, which they regarded as a radical offshoot of the (already regarded as heretical by orthodox Islam ) Nation of Islam.

History

The group was founded by Clarence 13X, who was called by the Five Percenters also "Allah", "The Father " or "Father Allah." He was so named because the doctrine of the Five Percent Nation back to him.

Especially in Hip Hop ideas of the Five Percenter are widely used (see links at the end of this article). Artists such as Rakim, the Wu- Tang Clan, Brand Nubian, Gang Starr, Nas, AZ and many others spread the views of the Five Percenter, partially encrypted in the form of the Supreme Mathematics and the Supreme Alphabet.

Five Percenter teach that the colored people in the individual, but also the entire world population can be total, divided into three groups:

  • 85%, the " poor masses", spiritually deaf, dumb and blind to the truth, themselves and the world in which they live, in front of.
  • 10% who know a lot of the truth, but use this to their advantage and keep the 85 % under their control ( through religion, politics, entertainment, business and other methods).
  • 5%, which are the enlightened divine beings and have regained the knowledge of the truth and want to liberate the 85 % through education.

Teaching

The followers of the Nation of Gods and Earths ( NGE henceforth called ) do not believe in an unseen, unheard " mystery God ", but rather similar to the pantheism in a god or divine spirit in every black person. Five Percenter sometimes refer to themselves as researchers as they seek knowledge and evidence, instead of beliefs and theories.

The teachings of the Five Percent Nation are passed on in the form of oral traditions. The progress of a Five Percenter is the degree of its internalization, playback, his understanding and the practical application of "Supreme Mathematics" and "Supreme Alphabet " - 120 tasks (again, a revision of the "Supreme Wisdom" Wallace Fard Muhammad and Elijah Muhammad ) written by Clarence 13X - measured.

The basic teachings of the NGE are as follows:

  • Black people are the original people of the earth.
  • Black people are the fathers and mothers of civilization.
  • The teaching of the Supreme Mathematics is the key to understanding the relationship of humanity to the universe.
  • Islam is a natural life and not a religion.
  • Education should be aimed to make black into an independent nation.
  • Every individual should teach others according to his knowledge.
  • Every human being is God and its corresponding name Allah. The word Allah stands for Arm, Leg, Leg, Arm, Head; So German for arm, leg, leg, arm, head, thus describes the human being.
  • Children are the connection to the future and have nurtured, respected, loved, protected and be informed.
  • The combined black family is the basic building block of the nation.

Universal flag

The Universal Flag is the official emblem of the group. It consists of a sun, a moon, a star and the digit 7 According to their doctrine, it represents the African American family:

  • 7 - The sacred number in many ancient and modern traditions. It symbolizes Allah (as black people ). In the Supreme Mathematics, the number is representative of God, just as the seventh letter " G" in the Supreme Alphabet.
  • Sun - Another symbol of the male, the truth and the light. The points around the sun are a symbol of the expanding universe.
  • Moon - The crescent moon symbolizes wisdom and the black woman.
  • Star - The five-beam star symbolizes knowledge and children, as the beginning of a new sun.

Comparison with established religion

Although the NGE uses many terms and expressions which are also traditional Muslims are common, and some of them call themselves Muslims, have Five Percenters and Muslims have little in common. So Five Percenter eat although no pork, but they also do not follow the traditional Islamic teachings as described in the Quran or Sunnah of Muhammad ( dress codes, prayer rituals of smoking / drinking ban and others). This is due to the fact that Five Percenter himself does not see as a religious movement and God dwell in them. Orthodox Islamic this is considered heretical and blasphemous concept, since it violates basic beliefs, and the association of persons or objects is a mortal sin to God. Then there is the rejection of an exclusivity of a particular (in this case black ) people, because although Islam comes from the Arabic region, but is considered as a multi- ethnic religion.
