Fjell

Fjell is a municipality in the Norwegian province (county ) Hordaland west of Bergen. The municipality consists of several islands, including Bildøy, Bjorøy and litle Sotra including the northern part of Sotra. The southern part of Sotra belongs to the municipality of Sund. Neighboring municipality to the north is Øygarden. Beyond the Hjeltefjords in the northeast is the island of Askøy, which also forms a separate municipality. Administrative center of Fjell is Straume on the island litle Sotra.

Fjell has become a growth Commune, after 1971, the Sotrabrücke ( Sotrabroen ) was completed. Since then, its population has increased from less than 7,000 to nearly 20,000. An expressway in the city center of Bergen is the travel time from the commune center in Straume reduced to about 15 minutes.
