FK Kukësi

Club Futboll Kukësi is an Albanian football club based in Kukes. The club currently plays in the first Albanian League.

History

The club was founded in 1930 as Shoqëria Sportive Kosova. With the establishment of the Albanian Football Association in 1932, the club was officially registered as KS Kosova. However, it took until 1953 not participate in competitions.

In 1958, the club changed its name to Klubi Sportiv Përparimi ( " Sports club progress" ) and made nine years later by winning the championship in the fourth division Kategoria e Join a first ascent. 1977 and 1982 was followed by two championship titles in the third division and pare each promotion to the second-class Kategoria e.

After nearly 30 years without significant successes of the third class gambling club was renamed again in 2010 and since then is called Club Futboll Kukësi. In addition, Fatos Hoxha was hired as the new president and the club's management invested heavily in new players. The goal of becoming the first-class Kategoria Superiore, succeeded after only two years by first took the championship of the third division and 2011/ 12 then finished second in the second division. In the category Superiore, the club reached the second place in the very first season in 2012/13. Thus he was able to participate in the Europa League for the first time. The first qualifying round against FC Flora Tallinn survived Kukes scarce, the second round against FK Sarajevo was gained thanks to a draw in the away game. Also in the third round scored a home win against the Ukrainian team Metalurh Donetsk, which KF Kukësi was the very first Albanian club unbeaten on five European Cup games. Despite defeat in the second leg after qualifying for the play-offs, but where Kukes failed to Trabzonspor. The first Albanian Kukes club in European competition has survived three rounds.

Stadium

Long Kukes had only a simple game, which offered only 2500 spectators. With the rise in the top Albanian League a new stadium was needed, that was enough for the demands of the Albanian Football Association and UEFA. In summer 2012, the new Zeqir - Ymeri Stadium was completed in just two months of construction, which has 5000 seats. The first game was a friendly match against KS Besëlidhja Lezha mid- August 2012. The Europa League games in the summer of 2013 but were all discharged in Qemal - Stafa Stadium, Tirana.

Named the stadium after an early local football players.

The playing field is 100 to 74 feet tall.
