Flag of Scania

The cross flag of Skåne (Danish and Swedish: Skåne) combines elements of the Danish and Swedish flag. The red background is taken from the Danish flag and points to the Danish tradition and history of the country part. The Golden Cross comes from the Swedish flag, pointing to the membership and relations with Sweden. The flag was designed in 1902 by the Scanian historian Martin Weibull. Since February 1999, the flag is used by the Skåne region and can be regarded as semi- official.

The flag is also referred to as a flag Skånelands, since it is also used in Blekinge and Halland. Flag Day ( Skånelandske flags dag ) is always the third Sunday in July.

Official Flag of Scania is actually a flag with the red head of a griffin.
