Flangebouche

Flangebouche is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Flangebouche is located on 728 m above sea level, 10 km east of Valdahon and about 36 km east-southeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, in the middle of the basin of Avoudrey, north of Mont Chaumont.

The area of ​​23.27 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The northern part of the area is occupied by the weakly in relief pool of Avoudrey, which has a width of about 4 km and a length of almost 10 km and an average of lies 720 m. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. Flangebouche itself lies in the wide opening of a Trockentals, which belongs to the catchment area of topographically Reverotte (inflow of Dessoubre ). The landscape has various peaks and troughs.

To the south runs a roughly 50 to 100 m high, wooded ground level on the higher Jura trains. The municipal area covers with a narrow tip on a series of parallel ridges area ( according to the strike of the mountain range in the southwest-northeast direction oriented) with intervening valleys ( pasture ) to the broad anticline of Mont Chaumont. With 1056 m is reached at the Nordostabdachung this ridge is the highest elevation of Flangebouche.

Neighboring communities of Flangebouche are Grand Fontaine- sur -Creuse in the north, and Loray Orchamps -Vennes in the east, the south and Gilley Longemaison and Avoudrey in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Flangebouche belonged to the rule Vercel. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. In the 20th century lignite was mined at Flangebouche. Since 1998 Flangebouche is a member of the 44- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierre Fontaine - Vercel.

On 1 January 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Besançon, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Attractions

  • The village church of Flangebouche was built in the 18th century in the style of classicism.
  • Next to the church stands a monumental, richly sculpted stone cross from the 15th century.

Population

With 698 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Flangebouche to the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 722 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.
