Flat White

" Flat White " is a name for a preparation variant of a cappuccino, which was usually decorated with Latte Art. The name came up in Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s. It is usually served in a cappuccino cup and consists of an espresso or ristretto doppio and pored foamed milk. While for the preparation of a cappuccino, milk is mixed by heating with a lot of air ( "very aereated milk" ), the milk is only slightly displaced in a flat white with air (" minimally aereated milk" ), so that the consistency of the milk almost liquid is. In addition, a Flat White has only a very thin layer of foam and no " frothed milk " as it is often found on a cappuccino.

In recent years, the Flat White also common in Europe, mainly in large cities. For example, the drink is represented in roughly 100 London cafes, since 2010 it is also available in the branches of the coffee shop chain Starbucks and Costa Coffee in the UK on the map. Even in major German cities, the drink spread increasingly.
