Fleischer Studios

The Fleischer Studios (fully Fleischer Studios Incorporation or Fleischer Studios, Inc.) were an American production facility for Animation works based in New York City. Founded they were in 1921 by brothers Max Fleischer österreichischstämmigen and Dave Fleischer initially under the name Inkwell Studios before the company was renamed in 1929 to the Fleischer Studios. 1941 Fleischer Studios Paramount Pictures were bought, were driven into bankruptcy in 1942 and renamed Paramount in the Famous Studios. That was the end of the Fleischer Studios.

Known productions

The Fleischer Studios had many successes to her wedding. The most famous include the animated series Betty Boop ( in her Talkartoons ), Popeye the Sailor, and the animated adaptation of Gulliver's Travels. In addition, the Fleischer Studios produced the first animated adaptation of the comic book hero Superman. With their productions, the Fleischer Studios were long time the biggest competitor of Walt Disney.

DVD releases

  • Nine of the Superman animated episodes can be found in the bonus material of the 4- disc special edition of the 1978 Superman film.
  • Eight other Superman animated episodes can be found in the bonus material of the 3- disc special edition of 1980's Superman II film.
  • All 17 of the Superman animated episodes also are also found in the bonus material of the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition and are also published with German synchronization as a double DVD with MCP Sound & Media GmbH.
  • The film Gulliver's Travels has now appeared multiple times on DVD and Blu -ray.
