Flemington (Victoria)

Flemington is a suburb of the Australian city of Melbourne, which is located about 4 km north-west of the city center. On the track, Flemington Racecourse, every year in November, the Melbourne Cup, the most important horses races of Australia, discharged.

History

1839 acquired the settler James Watson along with other investors land in the area and named it after the property Flemmington in Scotland, whose manager was his father. In the 1840s, various shops settled. 1854 a post office was opened.
