Flexibility (anatomy)

Mobility is generally the ability to take different positions and attitudes, and thus can refer to physical or mental impulses on. After the assumed conditions can each outer movable properties ( extrinsic) by an inner movable nature ( intrinsic) differ.

Mobility is made possible in principle about a change in the arrangement of rigid or fixed elements to each other or by a change of elastic and malleable elements both in themselves or with.

Sport Motorised mobility

The mobility in the motor sport sense is the ability to perform physical movements with a certain oscillation amplitude. The potential scope of the mobility is determined by the articulation of how the stretch and also referred to as flexibility or pliability.

The achievable degree of mobility depends on endogenous and exogenous factors. Endogenous are the physically and mentally given for a body internal conditions, so its easier to be influenced ( and trainable ) capabilities such as extensibility (of antagonistic muscles, tendons, ligaments and joint capsules ) and its hardly influenced characteristics such as agility (as range of motion of skeletal elements in their articulations ), and any limitations imposed by pain, painful memories, old age or disease. Are exogenous environmental factors named, as the surrounding medium ( eg water), external forces, outside temperature or the time of day.

After the muscular activity, a distinction between active and passive mobility. With the active mobility is defined as the range of motion that an athlete can achieve alone by muscle tension, under passive mobility that movement distance that it is accessible only with the use of body weight, with acceleration or force from outside.

Different sports require or encourage flexibility in scope of to the sports that is for active and passive range of motion of particular importance include, among others Gymnastics, gymnastics, acrobatics, cheerleading, ballet, yoga.

Mental agility

Under the mental agility, a nimble mind, a quick learner, a versatile interested in learning readiness new, the ability to change perspectives, or the development of alternatives to be understood. In order to train the mental agility and to preserve even in old age (see also age syndrome) have an intense mental activity, a lively social contact or a special mental training beneficial.
