The Intel Flexible Display Interface (FDI ) is an imagined by Intel in 2009 proprietary communication interface between the new Intel processors and chipsets.

The development in the field of PC chipsets is moving away from the traditional division of tasks between the processor and the two sub- chips Northbridge and Southbridge. The functions of these important components of a PC, in future only divided between the CPU and a chip of the " single-chip chipset ". Some of these changes relates to integrated graphics units.

With the new Intel solution " Westmere " CPU receives the graphics unit IGFX and the Intel 5 chipset keeps the display output. The communication between the functional units in the CPU and chipset is effected here by FDI.
