Floor

As a floor, the component is referred to in a building that rests as walkable area with different depending on technical and aesthetic requirement flooring on a load-bearing layer or a horizontal component as the base plate or floor ceiling.

As a floor structure is referred to in building the total of all layers of the floor. Modern floors are usually made of several layers, which perform different functions. The floor may be constructed in various ways, mainly depending on the design and the use of the building. Floor constructions in wood construction for example, differ fundamentally from those in masonry or reinforced concrete construction. In modern buildings, especially playing with the physics requirements for sound insulation (body -borne and airborne sound ) and heat protection a major role.

  • Widely used today are constructions in which a screed is on a reinforced concrete slab. On the screed is the flooring.
  • As a hollow- ground refers to a system of soil type, which is stored on special substructures in order to create a cavity between the base layer and the concrete slab to accommodate installations. See also: double bottom.
