Floorcloth

The mop, Low German Feueldoog, in Austria ( reaming, Aufwisch, plaster ) scraps is a ( plaster) overlap, rags or cloth for damp cleaning of the floor. The activity is called " feudeln ". The term is also common in sailor language.

The mop is not a mop, but its precursor, a coarse cloth that is usually wrapped around a mop.

Usage

For " cleaning cloth ", " floor cloth " or " wipe " in the German language many terms commonly used:

  • In East Germany, floor cloth is the common name, in some East Middle German dialects, especially in the Thuringian and Upper Saxon dialect group, strife is, in the Erzgebirge Hoder common.

In other regions, many people talk of cleaning cloths; next to it is common:

  • In the Ruhr: Transducer
  • In Rhineland -Palatinate and Saarland: Botzlabbe, Botzlombe, Butzlumbe
  • In Hesse: Butzlabbe, Butslumbe, Potzlombe
  • In Baden -Württemberg and Bavaria: rags, Hubibeizler
  • In Switzerland: ragamuffins
  • In Austria: washcloth
