Floria Sigismondi
Floria Sigismondi (born 1965 in Pescara, Italy) is an Italian- Canadian photographer and director. In addition to her art exhibitions she was as the director of music videos for, among others, Christina Aguilera, David Bowie, Sheryl Crow, The Cure, Björk, Marilyn Manson, Muse and P nk! Known.
Life
Sigismondis parents were opera singers, her family moved to Hamilton, Ontario in Canada as Floria Sigismondi was two years old. In her childhood, she devoted herself to painting and drawing.
From the year 1987 she studied painting and illustration at the Ontario School of Art when she took part in a photography course as part of her studies, she found a new obsession, and completed her studies in photography.
She began her career as a fashion photographer. The production company Revolver Films, she invited a director of music videos to run, so she did this for a number of Canadian bands. Her very innovative, but also very scary video works, in scenes that she once described as " entropic underworlds inhabited by tortured souls and omnipotent beings ", attracted some very famous musicians.
Her photographs and sculptures have been shown in solo exhibitions in Hamilton and Toronto (Canada), New York (USA), Brescia ( Italy), Gothenburg (Sweden), and London ( England) issued. In numerous group exhibitions of their photographs were shown together with those of photographers like Cindy Sherman and Joel -Peter Witkin.
Sigismondi lives in Toronto and New York.
