Floruit
Bl. is a German, used in historical and biographical writings scientific abbreviation of " bloomed ".
It is used as resumes of persons from whom neither birth nor death date is known, however, you can specify a time period within which occupied their appearance (for example: "bl in Athens 540-498 BC. ").
The term derives from the (for people metaphorically related ) saying " in bloom were " her ( cf. " in Flor are " English flourished, Latin floruit, abgek. fl ).
