Floyd H. Flake

Floyd Harold Flake ( born January 30, 1945 in Los Angeles, California) is an American politician. Between 1987 and 1997 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Floyd Flake attended the public schools in Houston (Texas ). In 1970 he graduated from Wilberforce University in Ohio. He then studied 1974-1976 at Northeastern University in Boston (Massachusetts ). From 1980 to 1984 he was enrolled at St. John's University in Jamaica ( New York). He also graduated from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Full-time worked Flake 1976-1986 as a clergyman of the Allen AME Church in Jamaica ( New York). At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1986, he initially failed in a congressional election.

In the regular congressional elections of 1986 was Flake but then in the sixth constituency of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Alton R. Waldon on January 3, 1987. After five elections he could remain until his resignation on 17 November 1997 in Congress. In 1990 he and his wife were due to misappropriation of church funds under indictment. Both were acquitted by the court.

Since the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Floyd Flake is back as pastor of Allen AME Church in Jamaica operates. Between 2002 and 2008 he was also president of Wilberforce University. He is also involved in the group Aqueduct Race Track Entertainment Group, which produced, among other slot machines for casinos in the horse racing center Aqueduct Racetrack and installed.
