The Universidade Federal Fluminense ( UFF ) is one of four state universities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The campus of the university is in Niterói, on the south side of Guanabara. In addition, there are 12 branches in other cities of the state.

The university was founded in 1960 as December 18 Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro by the merger of various colleges in the state. For example, the Faculty of Law was established in 1912 in Rio de Janeiro as Faculdade de Direito Teixeira de Freitas.

The UFF organized a university course for cinematography, the Brazilian filmmaker Nelson Pereira dos Santos has established, in which he also teaches.
